Description

Wollastonite is chemically a Calcium Meta Silicate (CaSiO3) has a theoretical composition of 48.3% calcium oxide and 51.7% silicon dioxide but may contain trace to minor amounts of aluminum, iron, magnesium, manganese, potassium, and sodium. It occurs as prismatic crystals that break into massiveto-acicular fragments with mohs hardness of 4.5-5 . In addition to Wollastonite’s unique
morphology, it is alkaline, inert, has low loss on ignition, low water solubility, low co-efficient of linear thermal expansion and a melting point of 15400c. It also improves tear strength, dielectric
properties and retains mechanical properties at elevated temperatures. Aadesh Mines And
Minerals wollastonite is so useful in many industries because of its high brightness and whiteness,
low moisture and oil absorption and low volatile content. It is a necessary ingredient in heat-
resistant refractory ceramics and is used as a filler in paint. It is also used in the manufacture of
paper, plastics, Friction products (brakes and clutches) and metalmaking.
